At Small Dog Mall®, the number one reason for a return is “It’s the wrong size”. Guessing your dog’s size is not a good idea and is almost always wrong. So, take a moment to measure your dog before you order a collar, sweater, tee or harness --- you will be glad you did.
How to choose the right size
All of our collars, harnesses and pet apparel are sized in inches. Since pets come in different shapes and sizes and there is no way we can size your pet based on its breed or weight.Please use the following guidelines, also available on our item pages, for choosing the appropriate size for your pup (or kitty!).
How to measure your dog for a Collar, Harness, Sweater or Tee

For a Collar
(Collars + Leashes + Harnesses)
You will need to know 1. neck measurement
Place tape measure at the back of your dog's neck. Measure the circumference of the neck with two fingers under the tape. Remember, you want the collar to be loose enough to easily slide over your dog's head should they get caught on something. Round up to the nearest inch. That's your dog's collar size.
For a Harness
(Collars + Leashes + Harnesses)
You will need to know 1. neck measurement
2. girth measurement
For a Sweater or Tee
(Small Dog Sweaters, Hoodies, Shirts and Hats)
You will need to know
1. Neck measurement
2. Girth measurement
3. Topline or Length measurement – the distance from back of neck to base of tail
