SMALL DOG MALL FOOD INGREDIENT PROMISE
This
is my pledge to you,
the pet parent:
I
DO NOT NOW,
nor will I ever,
sell an edible item on Small Dog Mall that is not made of "human
grade ingredients" --- meaning, something I could not or would
not eat myself.
The reason for this pledge is, many pet food items can virtually be
made of just about anything. The rules for pet food are not the same
as the rules for your (human) food. The reality is, the consumer
is told very little about the actual contents of what is in that can
or bag of dog or cat food you buy at the super market.
Advertisements for pet food would have you believe that the ingredients
used in commercial foods could grace your own dining table. But, if
you investigate pet food ingredients for yourself, you will soon
discover that this is anything but true. At best, this is a controversial
subject open for much debate.
However, I feel very strongly that as pet guardians, we need to look
for the all important "human grade ingredients" labeling ---
that means the food, while being a bit more expensive, is fit for human
consumption. After all, why would you feed something to your beloved,
precious pet that is not fit for you to eat?
Which brings me to my rule --- if I can't
eat it, it is not fit for your dog or cat to eat.
While I cannot state that all pet food falls into this category,
the "human grade ingredients" labeling is what I look for
when I buy food for my furry kids.
